There are some costs associated with going to school that you may find it helpful to plan and budget for.
Costs to consider include:
school books and equipment
Voluntary school contributions
Like all NSW public schools, we can request contributions to enhance our educational and sporting programs including elective subjects. School contributions help provide additional educational resources for the benefit of students. Payment is voluntary.
If you are unable to pay school contributions because of financial hardship, you may be eligible for assistance from the school.
Our principal will ensure no student or family suffers any discrimination or embarrassment over the inability to pay school contributions.
The Banora Point Primary School seeks a contribution to be paid for each student. This reduces many minor fundraising activities and enables the purchase of such vital items as paper, exercise books, library books, computer software, sporting equipment and many other necessities.
The annual contributions are $100 per student. The levy will include the following items:
class requisites including: English and Mathematics work book and text, scrapbooks, exercise
books, glue sticks, display folder, diary and classroom stationery
on-line educational subscriptions for use at school and home
access to interactive technologies for students in all classrooms (laptop, ipads, computers and Robots.)
From 2018 all students 3-6 at BPPS have enjoyed the use of 1 to 1 devices while classrooms K-2 enjoy approximately 7-8 devices per room.
All students K-6 participate in targeted spelling programs. All resources including textbooks are provided by the school.
In an attempt to provide educational access to the latest technologies, many schools have implemented a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program. This involves parents buying an iPad or laptop for the students to bring to school. This is payable in the first term of the year or as enrolment takes place during the year.
BPPS does not use a BYOD program as we feel the above flat fee and same device for all is a better solution with equity for all.
